NEXUS Update: What You Need to Know

A major software update for NX1 panels is now live, bringing brand new features to both the Commtel CONFIG and Commtel NEXUS apps. These updates give users and installers more flexibility, smarter control, and enhanced functionality – all without the need for any hardware changes.

!!! First things first: you’ll need to update your panel !!!

If you’re a Commtel NEXUS app user, you’ll see an in-app notification prompting you to update your panel.

The new features in the NEXUS app won’t be available until the NX1 panel has received the latest update, so please follow the instructions to complete this step.

What’s New in Commtel CONFIG

This update brings powerful new setup options for installers working with NEXUS systems:

Auto APN Setup

NX1 will now automatically detect the SIM’s mobile network and configure the correct APN – saving time during setup.

Temporary Codes

Create time-limited or limited-use entry codes from your phone – perfect for short-term access. Set an expiry time or limit the number of uses for each code.

Incoming Call Behaviour

You can now choose whether incoming calls are rejected or answered. When answered, users can activate advanced relay functions such as holding gates open via DTMF tones. This is ideal for remote manual control.

Scheduled Volume & Keypad Settings

Automatically adjust keypad volume and keypad brightness based on your preferred schedule using the built in time profiles. Reduce noise and light during night-time hours.

Enhanced AUX Input Options

AUX inputs can now be configured to:

  • Enable or prevent calls and access via specified entry codes
  • Act as an exit release
  • Trigger alerts

Adaptable to your site-specific needs.

What’s New in Commtel NEXUS – August 2025 Update

Once your panel is updated, end users will unlock a suite of powerful new tools directly from the NEXUS app:

Push Notifications

Receive instant alerts when key events occur – like a callpoint press, code entry, or triggered AUX input. Stay informed, in real-time.

Temporary Codes

Relay Action Screenshots

Get automatic snapshots when a relay is triggered via an entry code or the trade button, for example. These can be viewed in your activity log.

Ready to use now

This update is available for all NX1 panels as of Friday 1st August 2025. To access the new features:

  • Make sure your Commtel CONFIG or Commtel NEXUS app is up to date via the App Store or Google Play.
  • Follow the instructions in the Commtel NEXUS app to update your panel when prompted.
