What is IP?
IP stands for Internet Protocol, the set of rules that allows devices to communicate over a network. In the context of intercoms, IP technology means the system connects via a data network, such as Ethernet or 4G, instead of traditional phone lines. This enables faster communication, improved reliability, and greater functionality, such as video calling, remote access, and real-time monitoring through apps. By using IP, the NX1 opens the door to smarter, more connected entry systems that are built for the digital age.
Why IP?
As technologies and customer expectations evolve, we recognised the need to move beyond the traditional network-dependent audio systems, and the NX1 represents a natural evolution for Commtel. By adopting IP technology, we can deliver video calls directly to users’ smartphones via the Commtel Nexus app, all without relying on legacy mobile networks.
